UX Design and Research for the ‘other’ India

Hewlett Packard Research Lab, Bangalore, develops web and software based solutions for emerging economies, focused on India. In the two years that he was working at HPL, Abhimanyu designed a number of web and enterprise software solutions spanning verticals including health, education, tele-medicine, travel, and banking.

Responsibilities included consumer research, evolving product concepts, UX design, user testing and overseeing and coordinating various technical teams involved in the projects.

Abhimanyu presented his white paper on the "Design and Usability of Interactive Voice Response Systems for Emerging Markets" at the Human Computer Interaction International conference 2005 in Las Vegas, NV, in which he redefined the usability design standards for IVR design in the Indian context, which is extremely complex owing to multiple spoken languages and dialects, and to which none of the then international standards applied.
